MCPGate Boundary Appliance, explained for beginners
MCPGate Boundary Appliance is a gate in your own environment: a tool call that isn't explicitly allowed never reaches the tool.
What it is
MCP is how AI agents reach tools such as files, databases and shells. By default the call goes straight through.
This gate sits in the path. It forwards an allowed call, and holds a call to an unlisted tool or with a dangerous argument. It ships as a package with a Kubernetes chart, so it runs in the customer's own environment.
An everyday comparison
A security checkpoint on the only road into a building, with its logbook kept by you.
How it works, in 4 steps
- The agent sends a tool call.
- The gate evaluates the tool and its arguments.
- Allowed calls are forwarded.
- Anything else is held; the tool never sees it.
